Glick, DO, MPH, FAAD.Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by pruritus and spongiotic dermatitis that severely impacts quality of life (QoL) and places a heavy burden on patients and families. Many patients, particularly those with moderate-to-severe AD, are inadequately managed by conventional therapies and may require treatment with newer targeted agents to achieve treatment success. New and emerging therapies are revolutionizing the management of AD and are changing the treatment paradigm by offering a personalized approach to management. Dermatologists and allergists play key roles in guiding the selection and use of newer therapies in appropriate patients and will benefit from increased familiarity with new treatments and evidence-based guidelines. This podcast was recorded and is being used with the permission of the presenters. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to: Recognize the burden of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD), and the importance of patient and caregiver education for optimal management. Implement individualized treatment strategies for patients with moderate-to-severe AD, based on guideline recommendations, data on new and emerging treatments, management of comorbidities, and optimization of quality of life.
