Matt runs solo and shares his Yellowstone experience with plenty of tips, reconnect with nature and the outdoors, a quick shoutout to Pioneer School for their mix of in-class and experiential learning, History: The Hayden expedition captured the imagination of congress and they quickly formed the first national park in 1872. Geology: The geothermal activity is impressive chock full of hot springs, mud pots, steam vents, and geysers. Old Faithful is the most famous feature erupts roughly every 90 minutes, the Grand Prismatic Spring is the most photographed and quite stunning, take the time to drive through the geyser basins. Ecology: Head North! Lamar Valley is especially active, bring a spotting scope and a pair of binoculars, be alert sometimes opportunities come up right off the road, know how to look (pay close attention and look for subtle movement), dead animals are a predator buffet, pay attention to kill sites and don’t overlook the small creatures.
