Overall, the proportions of male teachers were greater at higher educational levels while the reverse was true of their female counterparts. Female teachers made up the vast majority of teaching staff in both pre-schools and primary schools, at roughly 95 and 93 percent respectively, whereas only 5 and 7 percent were male. Even though there was also a higher proportion of women, at about 55 percent, than men teaching in secondary schools, the difference between the two proportions was much smaller. In colleges half of the teachers were male, and the proportion of men teaching in private training institutes was even greater at around 58 percent, versus about 42 percent for women. Universities were where male teachers, at around 70 percent, significantly outnumbered female ones, at approximately 30 percent.
