013: Amerigo Gazaway

Forging an evolution of the “mashup” album format, producer Amerigo Gazaway’s “conceptual collaboration” projects imagine studio sessions between like artists of different genres and eras. It would be boring if we focused on the low hanging fruit though, so we navigate the conversation through his upbringing in Nashville, to traveling with his father from musical venue to venue to figure out the embedded experiences which Amerigo used to turn them into useful and powerful tools to make his music more dynamic. We also dive into sampling, gun violence, 420 culture and vinyl. His new upcoming full length collaborative album with Xiomara is entitled “Nineteen Ninety”.
