Episode 3: The Water Extremes

One of the most obvious effects of climate change is on the weather.  Scientific projections clearly show extreme weather patterns becoming  even more extreme.  So for a sport such as cricket that is bad news, depending on which part of the world you're in.  In England, for example, rain washes out plenty of the cricketing summer.  Dan Cherry, from Glamorgan CCC, the worst hit county, reveals the impact not just on the bottom line but on the sport's ability to attract new audiences.  However, in South Asia, the problem is lack of water and the implications for pitch maintenance, illustrated by leading broadcaster Nikesh Rughani.  And this isn't just at elite level. Recreational clubs, run by volunteers, are under increased pressure if play is lost.  Just ask John Maude, from Corbridge CC in the north of England, whose story is a vivid warning of natural dangers.    "The cosy sport cliche, too much too little, in cricket an issue that's way too literal".
