042: Julia Haltigan

Acclaimed bombshell songstress Julia Haltigan joins me this week on the podcast. We discuss her history growing up in New York, as well as her parents experiencing life there in the 70s. Back then it was referred to as Fear City, and they distributed a pamphlet, meant for tourists who wanted to avoid danger during their visit to the big city. To a current-day New Yorker, its rules for safe conduct are laughable and it became a clear sense of what was lost as New York left behind one set of priorities and embraced another. We also dive into what it was like going to high school with Scarlett Johansson, and starting a band with her. Ultimately, it brought us to present day as she just released a new album entitled 'Trouble', which with it's twang guitars, retro organ blasts, and Haltigan's dreamy Nancy Sinatra-esque vocals, sounds sounds something like The Strokes as produced by David Lynch.
