SFS 044: Shark Tank’s Daymond John Says Being Selfish is a Key to Success

It's rare to hear selfishness portrayed in the media positively, especially from well-known entrepreneurs. In an interview on CNBC, Shark Tank entrepreneur and founder of FUBU Daymond John says that the way high-profile people "maximize" their days is that, "They're selfish." John says: "We've given up our power to everybody. We wake up in the morning, answer a million emails with everybody's problems, look on social media; everybody's doing better than us. Get and talk to the kids for a second, 'I'll talk to you later,' and you never see your kids because you didn't schedule them on a list to be with your family, you scheduled to be in meetings." I admire John for saying this, as it goes against the grain to urge people to be selfish. We break down what he says and I add my take on it. Episode highlights: Why you can't succeed (for the long-term) without being selfish I share how it's still hard sometimes for me to say "no" and take care of myself Being selfish (in the rational way) is HARD (but the rewards are HUGE) Make sure you are setting "appointments" with people you love Don't Miss a Thing Get every episode automatically!
