The Association for Psychological Science has praised today's guest, Dr Edwin A. Locke, saying, "Locke is the most published organizational psychologist in the history of the field. The theory that is synonymous with his name — goal-setting theory — is perhaps the most widely-respected theory in industrial-organizational psychology.” Dr. Locke is a psychologist and pioneer in goal-setting theory. He’s Dean's Professor (Emeritus) of Leadership and Motivation at the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. He received his BA from Harvard and his Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology from Cornell University. He’s the author or editor of 12 books, including The Selfish Path to Romance: How to Love with Passion and Reason (with Dr. Ellen Kenner), and his seminal work A Theory of Goal Setting and Task Performance (with Dr. Gary Latham). Dr. Locke also a writer and lecturer for the Ayn Rand Institute and is interested in the application of the philosophy of Objectivism to behavioral sciences.
