Can artificial intelligence crack the data availability conundrum?
This episode is sponsored by Scientific Infra and Private Assets
The difficulty of getting good data has long been a major headache for investors in the private markets. Without instant access to high-quality data, investors struggle to conduct valuations, assess portfolio performance or benchmark investment managers. Tools that have been used for decades in the public markets, such as market indices, remain relatively nascent in the private markets.
The challenges with data are likely to grow ever more pressing as the private markets continue to expand. Many LPs are under pressure from their underlying investors to provide more transparent information. At the same time, capturing allocations from retail investors depends partly on being able to provide timely valuation data.
In this podcast, Abishek Gupta, associate director and head of product at Scientific Infra and Private Assets, and Tim Whittaker, the organisation’s research director, discuss how artificial intelligence can be a key part of the solution. Building on approaches already used in the public markets, they argue that developing tools to meet the needs of private market investors can help the asset class unlock the next phase of growth.
