God wants us to enjoy many aesthetic things in life!Genesis 2:10-12 (NKJV)10 Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there.The garden where the first couple was kept was wonderfully decorated by God with many preciousn stones like Bdellium and the onyx stone and with gold. The Scripture says that the Gold was good. This is the original 100% pure gold, unlike the gold we buy in the market. Why did God put gold and precious stones in the Garden? It was purely for enjoyment, neither for eating nor for trading. It was to decorate the place and to make the place just nice to look at! That is the extent of God’s heart for His people! God wants us to also enjoy good things. The Scripture says that God gives us all things to enjoy (see 1 Tim 6:17). He doesn’t want to provide just for our basic needs, but over and above our basic needs! He loves to provide even those things to enjoy in life, beautiful things, nice things. Our God is an artistic God and He wants us to enjoy aesthetic values in our lives.
