Apathy, pandemic crush these tribal students’ dreams of higher education

Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, most schools and colleges in the country switched to online education. Much has been said about the digital divide in the country where the privileged students are able to access education, while the poor students struggle.  In Melghat forest reserve in Maharashtra, most children have not attended a single online class for the past one year. This region is about 70 km away from Amravati city but is highly underdeveloped. Be it roads, or schools, or nutrition, Melghat is always in the news for the wrong reasons.  Reporter Prashant Rathore spoke to the youth and children from Melghat who had dreams of studying further, but felt stymied because of the pandemic.   See sunoindia.in/privacy-policy for privacy information.
