How young researchers are seeking data to understand excess mortality during COVID-19 pandemic

The Government of India has recorded more than one lakh people have died of COVID-19. There have been allegations of undercounting of COVID-19 deaths. One way to understand the extent of the toll of the pandemic and lockdown is to measure excess deaths. Menaka Rao from Suno India spoke to researchers Aashish Gupta and Kanika Sharma, who attempted to seek and collect data related to excess deaths along with other young researchers.
