Episode 24: Qaddafi's Man in Paris
As the media debates military intervention in Venezuela or Iran, we remember the French-led NATO intervention in Libya. Despite opposing the Iraq War, France supported the intervention to stop Qaddafi's crack down against protestors during the Arab Spring. Many questions remain unanswered about the Libyan intervention: Why did NATO overthrow Qaddafi? Which countries and corporations benefited from Qaddafi's ouster and the ensuing chaos? We discuss the allegations that Qaddafi funded French president Nicolas Sarkozy's presidential campaign to the tune of $50 million Euros. Because of the Libyan post-war debacle, Kim Jong-Un fears that relinquishing his weapons of mass destruction will end his regime and he's probably right.
