Two deaths in Santa Clara County, California in early February, have been attributed to the virus, autopsies reveal. The deaths on February 6th and 17th are the earliest known in the U.S. Neither victim had been out of the country, transmission was likely “community spread”. Meaning the virus may have been spreading in the U.S. weeks earlier than thought. Antibody tests from a study conducted by USC and the LA County Public Health Department, conclude that more than 320,000 in LA may have been infected, reports CBS news.
