This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Monday April 20th, 2020. More than 40,000 Americans have died due to COVID-19, as cases here climb toward 760,000. Iowa experienced its largest one day increase in new cases, adding 260, all from the meatpacking industry.  The U.S. currently conducts about 150,000 tests a day, Harvard researchers estimate we need to at least triple the daily rate to safely ease restrictions,  reports The New York Times.  President Trump said he will use The Defense Production Act to get more swabs for coronavirus testing.   In Washington State, more than 2,000 protested the stay at home order, Colorado and Tennessee also had protests. Negotiations look promising for an additional 450-billion-dollar relief package. 300 billion would go to the Paycheck Protection Program, 50 billion for the Small Business Administration’s Disaster Relief Fund, 75 billion for hospitals and 25 billion for testing.  Russian President Putin, said the peak of the virus is still ahead. More than 47,000 have been diagnosed in Russia. Spain’s death toll continues to fall, the Prime Minister will ask Parliament to extend the lockdown through the 11th, relays The Guardian.   New Zealand has extended their lockdown another 5 days. India saw their largest daily rise in cases, but moved forward in lifting some lockdown restrictions.  Australia, Germany, Norway, Iran and others have also begun to slowly lift restrictions.  The locations of hotspots and U.S and Country diagnoses in a moment.     See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
