This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Friday April 17th, 2020.  The President announced a three phased plan to re-open the country. Once a state meets the “gating” criteria of a 14-day downward trajectory in presumptive and confirmed cases, a testing and contact tracing program in place and can treat all patients without “crisis care” they can begin Phase I. Which advises keeping groups to less than 10, work from home, restaurants, theaters and places of worship, can open with strict physical distancing. If the 14-day gating is still met, then Phase II, schools reopen, keep groups to less than 50, bars re-open with diminished occupancy. Phase III, if no evidence of a resurgence, resume normal workspace, resume visits to hospitals and nursing homes. The President noted, Governors will do what is best for their state. New York State, Los Angeles and Washington DC, have extended social distancing restrictions to May 15th. The FDA is asking those that have recovered from COVID-19 to donate blood plasma which could be used to help currently ill patients fight the virus.  Japan declared a nationwide state of emergency. China had its worst 3-month economic downturn since at least 1992. The Mayor of London is calling for face coverings to be worn in public. Younger students in Denmark return to school with social distancing protocols in place. In Germany, the reproduction factor has dropped below 1. Meaning on average, each infected patient is infecting less than 1 person.     See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
