This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Saturday April 11th, 2020.  There are more than half a million cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. Friday saw the highest death toll to date with 2,074 fatalities.   A prominent coronavirus model suggests that New York and New Jersey, have passed their peak of fatalities due to the virus. California is expected to peak on the 15th, Pennsylvania on the 17th, Florida on the 27th and Texas on the 28th. The President is considering lifting social distancing restrictions on May 1st. The Director of The Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation at The University of Washington said “If we were to stop at the national level May 1,” “we’re seeing a return to almost where we are now sometime in July” reports The New York Times. Three crew members on the Navy Hospital Ship Mercy, docked in LA, have tested positive for the virus. Boeing will bring 2500 of their 70,000 Puget Sound, Washington employees back to work Monday, relays CNN.  Coronavirus deaths nearly tripled in Brazil this week, as President Bolsonaro continues to reject containment measures. Ecuador reported nearly 2200 new cases in a 24-hour period. India and Japan both reported their largest single day increase in cases. The Philippines have banned healthcare workers from working in other countries. Australian and New Zealand passengers have been evacuated from the Greg Mortimer cruise ship off the coast of Uruguay, where the ship has been anchored since early April. One hundred twenty-seven of the two hundred seventeen on board tested positive for the virus.     See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
