This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Thursday April 9th, 2020.  The Director of the World Health Organization, said “countries need to unify or risk worsening the coronavirus pandemic”.  New York State has more cases than any country in the world outside of the U.S.  Data in New York shows that cases are higher among Black and Hispanic residents. Governor Cuomo said the state will begin more testing in minority communities. In Arkansas, The Governor, is forbidding cities from creating their own lockdown policies. The Cook County Jail is now the largest known source of U.S. infections, reports The New York Times, with 387 cases linked to the jail. The CDC has issued guidelines for essential workers that have been exposed to the virus but are asymptomatic. These include, taking their temperature before entering the workplace, wearing a mask at all times and practicing social distancing.  UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains in Intensive Care, as the country witnesses its highest daily fatality toll, losing 938 lives. Russia reported more than 1,000 cases yesterday.  The Italian Prime Minister said the European Union has to loosen budget rules, if they don’t it could mean “the end of Europe”, relays CNN.  The Spanish Prime Minister told Parliament “we have reached the peak and now the de-escalation begins”, as he asked for the state of emergency to be extended to the 26th. The Czech Republic has begun lifting restrictions, including opening some stores and allowing essential travel outside of the country. New Zealand reports its 4th day of declining new cases.     See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
