This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info… Just the facts… for Thursday April 2nd, 2020. Louisiana and Georgia have the top six counties with the highest deaths per capita due to COVID-19, according to The Washington Post, New York County is 7th. FEMA relayed that the emergency stockpile of PPE is almost gone. Some ventilators sent from the federal stockpile to hospitals do not work, reports The New York Times. Mississippi and Georgia have issued “stay at home” mandates.  The President stated Wednesday that he has no plans to issue a National Stay at Home order. Sailors from the USS Roosevelt, who test negative for the virus, will be taken to hotels in Guam to self-quarantine for 14 days. There are currently 93 cases on board the ship that has a crew of more than 4,000. The weekly number of unemployment filings will be released today and most estimates have it near 5 million. Coronavirus task force member, Dr. Fauci, said that social distancing can be relaxed once there are no new infections or deaths, “but the real turning point won’t come until we have a vaccine”.    CNN reports that the Top U.S. General in South Korea, does not believe North Korea has no cases of COVID-19. He notes that “for about 30 days in February, early March” the military was locked down and extreme measures were taken on their border crossings. A refugee camp in Greece has been placed on a 2-week quarantine, with no one allowed in or out. The camp is home to more than 2,000. Italy, Germany and Pakistan will extend their lockdowns. The Israeli Prime Minister will self-quarantine for a week, after the Country’s Health Minister tested positive. The Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon has died due to complications from COVID-19. The President of The Philippines warns that anyone who breaks quarantine and is “unruly” could be shot.     See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
