Coronavirus news, updates and information for 03-30-2020

This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info… Just the facts… for Tuesday March 31st, 2020. Arizona, Virginia and Washington DC have issued “stay at home orders”. There are now over two hundred fifty-six million Americans under some type of order, relays CNN. There were over 575 deaths due to the virus in the U.S. on Monday, driving total fatalities over 3,100. The first U.S. Service member has died from COVID-19, the National Guardsman was from New Jersey. At a White House briefing, Dr. Fauci said it is likely there will be another outbreak in the fall. Governor Cuomo of New York is asking health care workers in other states to help in New York if they are not dealing with the crisis at home. Texas prison inmates are suing for more access to hand sanitizer, soap and paper towels. An inmate died of the virus in Illinois. In Chicago part of a convention center will be converted in to a care facility. Ford a GE will team up to produce ventilators.  Johnson and Johnson hope to begin testing on a vaccine by September.  Worldwide infections have passed 800,000, with more than 38,000 fatalities. The Hungarian Parliament approved The Prime Minister’s “rule by decree” measure. Amnesty International had warned against it. The Chief Medical officer in the UK, said it could be six months or more before things get back to normal, and that lockdowns will be assessed every 3 weeks, according to The New York Times. Japan has issued travel warnings for 73 countries. Vietnam will begin a 15 day “stay at home” order, with all non-essential businesses to close. In Panama, men and women will only be allowed to leave home on different days, relays The Guardian.  Australia and New Zealand report a higher percentage of young people between 20-29 with infections, than in other countries.  One potential explanation is that younger groups in those countries tend to travel overseas more.     See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
