The CDC has issued a domestic travel warning for residents of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, asking residents to refrain from non-essential travel for 14 days. Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN that about 56% of new infections in the U.S. are coming from the New York City area. The Mayor of NYC relayed that they will run out of critical medical supplies by next Sunday, reports The Guardian. The Governor of Louisiana warns that his states health system is at risk of “being overwhelmed with patients in a matter of days” relays The Washington Post. Mexico is asking residents to stay at home until April 19th, cases there have increased 237% in one week. Switzerland recorded more than 1,000 new cases in a day. Australia is closing all public outdoor spaces and limiting gatherings to two people. The death toll in Italy is now over 10,000. The Chinese National Health Commission said that local transmission of the virus in China is “basically blocked” but cautions that a chance of a new outbreak from imported cases is still high.
