Newsweek reports a 26% increase in cases outside of China on Sunday, bringing the total number of global cases to 78,800. Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait all confirm their first case of COVID-19 according to the New York Times. Worldwide markets have been affected by ramifications of the virus with the Dow plunging more than 950 points on the opening bell, NBC News reports. The Guardian has reported the 7th death in Italy since Friday. There is conflicting information coming out of Iran as Iranian media has the country’s death toll at 50, while recent official numbers have it at 12 according to the AP. Either count gives Iran the highest death toll outside of mainland China. Italy and Iran are the latest countries added to the CDC travel watch list, as level 1, travel with “usual precautions”. Japan, South Korea and China are also on the list with higher level alerts.
