In this Episode, Dr. Thomas Hemingway, MD discusses the most common and widespread nutritional disorder in the world; IRON DEFICIENCY. According to the World Health Organization, WHO, it affects all countries, developed as well as developing nations and a large number of children and women especially. The numbers are staggering: 2 billion people – over 30% of the world’s population – are anemic, many due to iron deficiency.
Thus, Iron Deficiency affects more people than any other condition, constituting a public health condition of epidemic proportions.
Iron is an essential mineral; WE CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT! It is CRUCIAL for CARRYING OXYGEN in our body and if we don't have enough, may be excessively TIRED or LOW ENERGY among other things. Depending on where we get it in our diet, from plant or animal foods, it is absorbed differently and we may be deficient and not event know it.
