Veronica Ryan

Veronica Ryan is a British sculptor whose fascinating career spans more than four decades, but whose biggest career moment may well come in 2021, with two important commissions for the UK: a statue in east London to commemorate the Windrush generation, and an exhibition on Spike Island in Bristol, a hotspot in the recent Black Lives Matter-related statues debate. She joins Danielle Radojcin for this episode of the podcast from the Paula Cooper Gallery in New York to talk about memories of her birthplace on the island of Montserrat and growing up in the UK, the influences that feed into her work, and the things that best represent her that she’d put into her cabinet of curiosities.
