Marc Quinn

The British artist first made headlines in the 1990s as a key member of the Young British Artists movement in the notorious "Sensation" exhibition, along with Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin, with a self-portrait cast in his own blood. He soon left his YBA moniker behind but continued to provoke a reaction with his statues of Kate Moss doing yoga, his representations of trans people, and his statue of the dysmelic pregnant woman Alison Lapper, which he created for the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. Host Danielle Radojcin visits him at his studio in East London to talk about his new ‘social sculpture’ "Our Blood", a wide ranging, ongoing project which highlights the plights of refugees, and which has attracted the support of everyone from Bono to Anna Wintour to Kate Moss. He also talks about dealing with his phone addiction, his thoughts on experiencing art in real life as opposed to digitally, and the awakening of his social conscience.
