Touria El Glaoui

As founder of 1-54, the African contemporary art fair that takes place in London, Marrakech and New York, Casablanca-born Touria El Glaoui is dedicated to giving African art and artists an international platform. Here she chats with journalist and broadcaster Danielle Radojcin about her famous father’s friendship with Winston Churchill, why she was determined to become independent and forge her own career, the journey which took her from a high flying career in finance in New York to setting up her own business, and the challenges of creating an art fair from scratch with no previous experience.
