A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) revisited

In the latest episode of the Cine-Lit podcast, Adam and Rebekah are joined by film lecturer David Leicester.

Together they discuss Elias Kazan's A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), currently showing in cinemas in a new restoration by the BFI.

As well as discussing the towering performances of Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando, they talk about Tennessee Williams' original play and how it relates to the film. They also cover Elias Kazan's controversial 1952 testimony as a witness before the House Committee on Un-American Activities at the time of the Hollywood blacklist.

Book to see A Streetcar Named Desire at QUAD, Derby.
