Tonglen - The Ancient Buddhist Way of Releasing Suffering (20 min)

The Environment of the Mind can be transformed using this millennia-old Buddhist Tonglen technique. The word ‘Tonglen’ itself is Tibetan for 'giving and taking' (or sending and receiving). It is a practice of being present and open to your own suffering, being willing to receive and integrate the suffering and pain within yourself. In the simple act of being unflinchingly present for your own anguish, bearing witness to it with an open heart and fearless acceptance of this suffering, you heal yourself, you awaken a bottomless compassion within yourself, and you transform the pain into joy, the darkness into light. By bringing an open hearted presence, a loving and fearless presence to your own pain or loss, you unlock the healing alchemy of compassion and love.  Tonglen is an ancient Buddhist technique to help you release suffering within yourself (or on behalf of others too). It has survived in more or less the same form through successive generations for many hundreds of years in the Buddhist traditions of Tibet. This is a 20 minute version of the 'Environment of the Mind' Tonglen practice. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
