The Season of Trump With Former Congressman Ben Quayle

Former-Congressman Ben Quayle is watching the political drama of Donald Trump unfold from the sidelines, “taking a break” from his congressional seat to focus on family.   Quayle, son of former Republican Vice President Quayle, jokingly refers to Trump as a good entertainer who “gets ratings” and has “moments.” But looking past the smoke and mirrors that cloud American politics today, Quayle warns Conservatives about Trump’s past “liberal positions” on issues like abortion, taxation and healthcare. Not to mention the heated topic of immigration that very well may “galvanize the Republican base of support.” He adds, “If Republicans were smart; they’d take that issue away from Trump.” Public discontent with cronyism and the political class in general, says Quayle, has fueled Trump’s success. The irony, regardless of Trump’s massive wealth and ego, he is very “relatable.” Quayle touches skeptically on Republican candidates Ted Cruz and John Kasich, while citing Rubio “our best order” because of his “good vision for the Country.” In this 20 minutes episode, we also cover scare warnings about Government shut-downs, and Quayle’s view on the escalating dangers of ISIS.There is a lot for us to worry about, but there is also a lot for us to be inspired by.  When asked what inspires him, Quail answers “family.” He recalls the reason he got into politics, “concern about where the country is going” and “how to help.” His stated vision, “to change and shift the way Washington is working.
