Utkarsh Ambudkar, Breaking Hollywood Stereotypes

You may know him from Pitch Perfect, the Barbershop movies, The Mindy Project or Showtime's White Famous. Utkarsh Ambudkar is a cat. He's hip, he's cool and, according to him, most roles for young Indian males in Hollywood are NOT written as the hip, cool guy. While I knew, prior to our interview, that he used to do underground rap battles like Eminem in 8 Mile, I didn't realize that he considers rap the life-blood to his career. An NYU grad who has learned to reveal his authentic self in order to create his own niche, Utkarsh is full of wisdom that is bound to inspire you. Our conversation includes... ##

Growing up with two PhDs as parents.

##

Why Acting Conservatory is not for everyone.

## How rap saved Utkarsh and taught him that being himself, rather than his idols, was his super power.

## Utkarsh's collaboration with Lin-Manuel Miranda and his involvement in the creation of Hamilton.

##

Blazing a trail for the next generation of Indian Actors.
