The Oversexualization of Children in Media

From the children’s toy aisles at Target to Pornhub’s homepage, we see an overwhelming number of messages that sexualize children, particularly young girls. In this episode, we discuss some examples of children being sexualized in media along with the consequence it can and does have on individuals' self esteem, feelings of self worth, and academic performance. We finish it off with some suggestions on what we can do to combat these negative messages and to raise children who can intelligently process their surroundings, rather than falling into the mental trap that they must perform in a certain (sexual and attractive) way to be loved and accepted by society and their peers. --- You can contact me here letstalk@sextalklovetalk.com - - FOLLOW WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM/SEXTALKLOVETALKPODCAST  - SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://www.apa.org/pi/women/programs/girls/report
