The Sixty-Seventh One... and Jennifer Irwin
Episode 67 and Wendi and Dfernando's guest interview is actress and writer Jennifer Irwin.
Jennifer Irwin is best known for her roles on television as Virginia Kremp on the long-running ABC TV comedy THE GOLDBERGS, Linda Michaels on ABC TV’s comedy STILL STANDING, Dolly Durkins on the CW’s iZOMBIE, Laurie Neustadt on the NBC TV comedy SUPERSTORE, and as Dee Dee, Moira Rose’s sister on the now-classic multi-award winning comedy SCHITT$ CREEK.
A graduate of Montreal's McGill University, Toronto-native Irwin began her professional career in show business as a child actress in the 1985 mini-series ANNE OF GREEN GABLES and the horror feature THE GATE before joining THE SECOND CITY comedy troupe. Irwin worked with THE SECOND CITY from the mid-1990s, appearing in dozens of varied comedic stage performances including challenging improvisational pieces.
With Canada as a hotbed of film production, Irwin landed supporting roles in many feature films including 1996's MRS. WINTERBOURNE (alongside Ricki Lake, Brendan Fraser, and the legendary Shirley MacLaine), 1998's BLUES BROTHERS 2000, and 1999’s SUPERSTAR - the feature film adaptation of Molly Shannon's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE character Mary Katherine Gallagher, where her performance earned her a Canadian Comedy Award nomination.
Irwin then set her sights on Los Angeles, where she hoped to launch a career as a comedic actress. Within weeks of arriving, she landed a guest role on the CBS TV’s sitcom THE ELLEN SHOW and a regular spot on the NBC TV sitcom INSIDE SCHWARTZ. Other notable television work has been: SLINGS AND ARROWS, THE GAVIN CRAWFORD SHOW, RAISING HOPE, MICHAEL: EVERY DAY, BREAKING IN, HBO’s EASTBOUND & DOWN, HBO MAX’s HACKS, Netflix’s PHYSICAL, and the animated series CRASH CANYON.
Other films Irwin can be seen in are: NO STRINGS ATTACHED, BAD TEACHER, LONG WEEKEND, and the 2021 Dan Mazer film THE EXCHANGE.
Irwin is also co-creator of the KIDSTORY app - an app that lets parents privately share with friends and family their kid’s “story”: their favorites, firsts, quotes, artwork, sports and the photos and videos that go with each moment. An online digital scrapbook that keeps everything organized in one place. KIDSTORY is available for free download at the App Store.
