Your brain holds onto it and says, this must be the mindset that drives celebrities like Kanye West to jump up on stage and embarrass a young Taylor Swift. An insight that gives the owner the ability to enter any situation with utter and complete confidence and swagger. And sometimes that Kanye-esque quote comes from a famous French dude named, Gustave Flaubert, who wrote: “There is no truth. There is only perception.” It is an idea that is great in theory, but nearly impossible in practice. It is also an idea that we haven’t been able to stop thinking about since episode 1, when Matt Wilson cracked open our skulls and began putting name-tags on all the little voices in our heads. These voices steer us through life. But are you behind the wheel, or sitting shotgun, careening through life in the carpool lane? In other words: How do you deal with perception vs. reality?
