Episode 148: Why Movement Matters With Kelly McGonigal, PhD

This week, I’m talking to Kelly McGonial, PhD. Kelly is a research psychologist, a lecturer at Stanford University, an award-winning science writer, and a dance/yoga/group-exercise teacher. She is the author of the international bestseller The Willpower InstinctThe Upside of Stress, and Yoga for Pain Relief. Her latest book is The Joy Of Movement

In this episode, Kelly and I discuss how movement can change the stories we tell about ourselves, the joy gap, the importance of movement for our mental health, how listening to music can change what we think we’re capable of, struggling to find a movement routine (and what to do about it), and how movement has changed Kelly’s life.
