34, Interview with Pathfinder Asset Management CEO, John Berry, Ethical Investing, the Macro Economy, Fund Management and a dive into Individual Stocks.
After last weeks episode through the grapevine I got put in touch with John Berry, the founder and CEO of Pathfinder Asset Management, you can check out their website by going to www.path.co.nz. Pathfinder are an investment fund, setup in 2009 to focus on investing responsibly and ethically in the global markets. They believe that investors should consider the environmental, social and governance impact of their investments and believe that accounting for these factors is an edge in the market and can improve returns. So I thought who better to talk to than John Berry, who probably knows more about ethical investing than anyone else in New Zealand. The conversation is unscripted, wide ranging and we also diverge into other topics such as the big macro, globalisation, fund management and we find time to dive into companies such as Facebook and VW. John Berry bio John is an advocate for responsible investment and for greater transparency around investment products. He is CEO (and co-founder) of Pathfinder Asset Management, a boutique fund manager specialising in ethical investment. Pathfinder’s funds include global water and global equity strategies with an environmental, social and governance focus. John is a trustee of the Men’s Health Trust NZ. He is also an independent director of Punakaiki Fund (an investor in NZ growth and tech businesses) and a member of the Government’s working group designing a new code of conduct for financial advice in New Zealand. A reminder that nothing that John and I talk about today should be considered financial advice, if you are looking for financial advice I recommend that you speak to an authorised financial adviser.
