Petrol prices have witnessed a cumulative rise of over Rs 6.50 per litre since June 7 after an 82-day hiatus. Diesel rates have also been hiked by over Rs 7 per litre since the fresh round of hikes started. The sharp rise in petrol and diesel prices has not only led to a lot of public criticism, but political parties are now slamming the NDA government for distressing citizens during an economic slowdown.
