#2 Explained | Indian Standard Time (IST) क्या है, जिससे पूरे देश का टाइम तय होता है | GMT
In this episode of Aasaan Bhasha Mein, we talk about Indian Standard time (IST) as it was accepted on 1st September, 1947. How does the rotation of Earth on its axis and Longitudes affects the time? Indian Standard Time is calculated on the basis of 82.5°E longitude in the city of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, which is situated approximately on the corresponding longitude reference line. After Independence in 1947, the Union government established IST as the official time for the whole country, although Kolkata and Mumbai retained their own local time (known as Calcutta Time and Bombay Time) until 1948 and 1955.
