Why Daily Fantasy Sites are Focusing on Esports w/ PrizePicks CEO
Daily Fantasy games capitalized on a loophole that allowed them to operate as defacto sports betting competitions even when sports betting was only legal in Nevada and New Jersey. Even though sports betting is opening to state after state due to a Supreme Court decision in 2018, daily fantasy giants like DraftKings and Fanduel set themselves up for success. But those aren't the only daily fantasy games. PrizePicks, another leading DFS site with a different format to DraftKings and Fanduel, was already in esports pre-pandemic and the lack of sports caused the company to focus in on esports as a key part of the site's offering. Adam Wexler, PrizePicks CEO, joins the show to talk about the expansion into esports, where bettors are putting money down and what makes PrizePicks unique.
