Contested Divorce

The divorce process in South Africa generally involves several steps, including the filing of the divorce summons, the serving of the summons on the other party, the exchange of documents and information, and the possibility of mediation or other alternative dispute resolution methods. If the parties cannot agree, the case may go to court for a final decision. It is also possible for a divorce to be contested, which can prolong the process. In a contested divorce, the parties cannot agree on one or more issues and must go to court for a judge to decide the outcome. Contested divorces take longer to resolve as they involve additional court hearings and may require the parties to present evidence and testimony.
