Learning about Parts of speech is essential and interesting in learning basic grammar. Parts of speech deals with the role or part played by a word in a sentence. We know that there are 8 parts of speech in U.K based English grammar. They are noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition, conjunction and interjection. Articles is considered as a separate part of speech in U.S based English grammar. A noun is a naming word. A noun is the name of a person, place, thing or an idea.
