There has been the evaluation of a number of unusual positions, for the unusual by definition, is more interesting.However, the fact is that for most people sex is mostly within the marriage. We will not say entirely within marriage, because data on extra-marital sex is predictably elusive and that that exists is difficult to consider reliable.There are some broad themes we have seen in discussions on sex in committed relationships. There is the path of a couple becoming a very efficient team and so becoming post-sex in some ways. Marriages which continue to be functional but keep moving towards a comfortable sexlessness.
