Episode 41 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with Mareech becoming a beautiful golden deer and moving around the dwelling place of Ram, Sita and Lakshman. As soon as Sita sees the golden deer, Sita falls for the beautiful animal. She wants the deer, live or dead. Sita calls Ram and Lakshman to see the deer. Lakshman immediately recognizes the deer as Maareech. Lakshman says that there is no golden deer and this is an illusion. Sita ignores Lakshman and continues to pester Ram to get the golden deer. Ram examines the issue from the perspective of dharm, arth and kaam. Ram does not negate Lakshman. Ram says that if it is Maareech, it is Ram’s dharm to go and kill Maareech since the raakshas had killed many munis and rishis as well as kings in the past. Ram takes his bow and arrows and goes in pursuit of the golden deer. As Ram’s arrow hits Maareech (golden deer), Maareech shouts out in Ram’s voice – O Seete! O Lakshman! Lakshman knows that this is not the voice of Ram. But Sita thinks that Ram is in danger. She tells Lakshman to go and help Ram. Lakshman refuses initially, but unwillingly goes when Sita abuses and blames him in the most horrible manner.   (Ref.
