Episode 35 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla marks the beginning of Aranya Kand where Ram, Laxman and Sita live in a horrible forest full of cannibals and blood-thirsty wild animals. At the outset, munis and rishis welcome Ram and explain to him that he is their king even while he is living in the forest and he must act to protect them. As they move forward, they encounter the giant demon named Viradh who is immensely big and carries a huge spear with more than ten animal heads on it. Viradh is blessed by Brahma that he cannot be killed by any weapon. Viradh takes a liking to Sita. Viradh lifts up Sita and tells Ram and Laxman to run away. Viradh announces his intention to marry Sita. Ram is disturbed and sad but soon regains his composure. The two brothers fight Viradh and bury him alive since he cannot be killed by any weapon. Before death Viradh remembers his past life and even guides Ram to the way to the ashram of Rishi Sharbhang. Ram visits Rishi Sharbhang who is waiting to depart from this world. Rishi Sharbhang guides Ram and blesses him before entering fire and embracing death. (Ref.
