वाल्मीकि रामायण के राम क्र० १७ सीता राम द्वारा दान महाराज का आदेश तथा सुमंत्र का आक्रोश
Episode 17 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla starts with describing the way Ram and Sita distributed their complete wealth and belongings including furniture, ornaments, clothing and household goods to learned men and the assistants / servants who had been serving Ram. Sita, Ram and Lakshman went to meet Maharaj Dashrath and take his final order and blessings for going to forest. Dashrath ordered Ram to arrest him as well as Kaikeyee and to take the throne. Ram refused to obey his father’s order and declared his keen commitment and interest in going to the forest. Maharaj Dashrath pleaded with Ram to delay his departure by a day. But Ram refused even that and insisted on going the same day as promised to Kaikeyee. Everyone present was angry at Kaikeyee. Sumantr, Maharaj Dashrath’s saarthee (driver), spoke for the people of Ayodhya and spoke real harsh words to Kaikeyee. But Kaikeyee was not moved. (Ref.
